editAccording to all the historical references I find, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth no longer existed in the early 19th century... both were absorbed into either Russia or German Prussia by 1800, although there was a Polish "Grand Duchy of Warsaw" which included the southwestern corner of Lithuania. Moreover, Standard Times were rarely in use among the general public (except in the cities where they were the equivalent of local Sun Time anyway) before the end of the 19th century, with the rare exception of Great Britain, which started using Greenwich time in some, but not all, cities in the 1840s. All this clearly merits further research. Uranian Institute (talk) 22:45, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
The Geohack position on the page used the coordinates 52°14’40”N 21°00’42”E literally, but this turns out to be slightly outside the Theatre Square. The coordinate system used at that time was probably different than what we use today and what GeoHack uses. I changed the "coords" template to use the coordinates from User:Hiuppo's geotagged picture which seem to be more like where the actual landmark is on the Theatre Square, but someone with a knowledge of the coordinates systems could recalculate the position more correctly. UTC+01:24
editThe article UTC+01:24 now resembles more the other UTC offset articles at Category:UTC offsets. These are different from articles in Category:Lines of longitude which talk about meridians. Warsaw mean time now redirects to UTC+01:24. Warsaw meridian got its time info reduced.
Warsaw meridian is about a meridian, UTC+01:24 is about a UTC offset. As for all other offsets, the offset content is located at an offset article while the meridian content is located at the meridian article.
Check Category:UTC offsets and Category:Lines of longitude to understand the topic. Time in Russia (talk) 13:58, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Warsaw meridian → Warsaw Meridian – Proper name like Greenwich Meridian, Paris Meridian. HTML2011 (talk) 14:20, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- Comment there are several related meridian requests, see Talk:Greenwich_Meridian, Talk:Paris Meridian, talk:Washington meridian, talk:Warsaw meridian. 70.24.244.198 (talk) 04:40, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- Comment also Talk:Prime Meridian. 70.24.244.198 (talk) 04:09, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose – I don't find many sources on this topic, but the few books I find use lower case. Is there a case to be made for capitalization? Seems unlikely. Dicklyon (talk) 05:20, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- If you found sources, would you mind adding them to the article? It is currently unreferenced. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk to me 20:38, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- It's hard to get much from a source like this book snippet or this one that mentions a "Batavia–Warsaw meridian" that is probably not related. Dicklyon (talk) 22:17, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Agree. This is the proper name for the Warsaw Meridian (of which there is only one), not just a Warsaw meridian. Bazonka (talk) 17:06, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- comment to be consistent, if this is not moved, a redirect should be created. 70.24.244.198 (talk) 11:18, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- done. Dicklyon (talk) 05:54, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose – not supported by WP:RS's per WP:COMMONNAME. ENeville (talk) 23:25, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose—the sources mostly downcase, and WP uses lower case for analogous items where the distinctiveness of the item is perfectly clear. What other Warsaw meridian are people thinking of? Tony (talk) 03:21, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose— goes against the grain of acceptable capitalisation. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 04:19, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
