editMy 1st edit:
Within the first paragraph, I changed the sentence:
"for any Māori, the living conditions were atypical"
to:
"for any Māori, the living conditions displayed within the book were atypical"
because it did not make grammatical sense otherwise. In retrospect, and in the interests of objectivity, I probably should have said "portrayed" rather than "displayed".
Within the second paragraph, I changed the following sentence:
"Freed from the constraints of being published as part of the Primary School Bulletin series, Westra as the copyright holder had the book republished by the Caxton Press of Christchurch"
to:
"Westra as the copyright holder later had the book republished by the Caxton Press of Christchurch"
in order to free that sentence from the constraints of socio-political vitriol.
In the same paragraph, I deleted completely the following 2 sentences:
"This second edition uses more colloquial language and shows taboo subjects such as children pretending to smoke. Notably, however, the photograph of the house present in the Government Printer edition was omitted"
because the first sentence was evidently based entirely on a POV, and because the second sentence made no sense to any person unfamiliar with the subject in question, relying entirely upon the reader's assumed familiarity with that subject.
In the third and final paragraph, I deleted the only sentence constituting the aforesaid paragraph, because it was unsubstantiated by any references/citations:
"In both editions, the family used aliases and were said to live near Taihape, but in truth lived near Ruatoria."
In retrospect, it could have probably stayed, although within the context of the edited text, it's difficult to tell how relevant and/or intelligable it would be. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.236.157.7 (talk) 04:40, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
