WP:NPOV Section Tags
editI noticed disputation tags on this article this morning but am not sure what the issue is, so would appreciate some explanation. Although the word "capitulated" is potentially WP:Weasel I"m not clear what the other issues are. Could the editor who placed these tags please explain their rationale and perhaps a suggested modification to address it? Many thanks, Rorybowman (talk) 14:15, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- There is no comment here to support the NPOV tags. I propose removing them and adding a few citations to each tagged section.
Here are a few options. Personally I like the way this news frames it. "Nearly all of the opposition money against I-522 has come from six out-of-state contributors that also were among the top donors against California's measure. The Grocery Manufacturers Association has given $7.2 million, while the biotechnology company Monsanto Co. has given $4.8 million. The average contribution to No on 522 is $1.2 million.About 72 percent of the money raised by supporters of I-522 has also come from out of state. Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps has given the most: $1.7 million. The pro-labeling group has received lots of smaller donations from within the state. The average contribution to Yes on 522 is $874." source http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20131007/NEWS03/710079961/Money-pouring-into-I-522-battle
this article looks into the history of major contributors for example Monsanto contributions to legislative candidates. http://kuow.org/post/monsanto-pours-46-million-anti-gmo-labeling-campaign
other more updated sources http://kuow.org/post/opponents-gmo-labeling-raise-record-17-million http://www.kirotv.com/ap/ap/washington/judge-rejects-lawsuit-against-no-on-i-522-group/nbGN2/ http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/2013/09/24/basf-plant-science-500000-against-i-522/ nice map of in and out of state disclosed contributions http://www.pdc.wa.gov/public/ballotmap/ballotinitmap.aspx
It makes more sense to tag the article as an emerging news article as opposed to NPOV because new reports are coming out daily.

- Agree. An emerging news tag would make more sense. Would you please make the change, YakbutterT? Rorybowman (talk) 17:15, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
Adding Current Event Tag
editAs suggested earlier, I've added a "current event" tag. The fundraising part of this is becoming a national story, and the Grocery Manufacturers Association made sizable donations late last week, which made the press just yesterday. I suspect there will be more to come around this, but anticipate it will mostly affect the second paragraph of the lead and "Donors" sections. Rorybowman (talk) 17:52, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
