Talk:Waterloo Central School District

Merge

edit

I have proposed that the section on the Catholic School be merged into the aritlce on the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester. Simply being within the boundaries of a public school district doesn't mean a school is part of a district. As a parochial school, it is not overseen or administered by anything in this district and thus has no reason to be mentioned here, particularly in the level of detail it is. This article is about the schools that are administered by the Waterloo Central School District. --JonRidinger (talk) 04:25, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup

edit

I placed the cleanup tag because of the excessive use of infoboxes and how they fit together. Unless each section is expanded, it creates an awkward look. I removed all of the lists of current and former administrators. Really, only the respective principals need to be listed unless there have been notable faculty or administrators (notable being marked by having a Wikipedia article about them). Long lists of non-notable former and even current administrators are not appropriate on Wikipedia, which was also a problem at the high school article. Wikipedia is not a directory or a mirror site. My suggestions would be to combine all the histories of the schools into the district history section and then make a chart of the current schools, which can include the pictures of each school, the respective proncipals, and selected stats like enrollment and staff numbers. If you'd like to see an example of what I'm talking about, see Kent City School District#Facilities. --JonRidinger (talk) 04:25, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Information

edit

Important points to consider to avoid spending time adding information that will ultimately get removed:

  1. Lists of former administrators are not appropriate in this or individual school articles. The only administrators that should be listed are current ones (and even then it's only the leaders like the principal and any assistants for a school and the superintendent for a district) or those who are notable for some reason (meaning a Wikipedia article exists about them). Otherwise, the information is considered WP:FANCRUFT and not necessary.
  2. Along with that, avoid using official titles with names ("Dr.", "Mr,", etc.). See WP:CREDENTIAL
  3. Bell schedules are not appropriate. A basic summary of how the day is divided (like "the school day is made up of eight 45-minute periods with 5 minutes between each class", or something like that) is appropriate, but not a detailed chart.
  4. Other guidelines can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines. Thanks --JonRidinger (talk) 03:18, 21 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
