My point is Watson is NOT an AI. The Watson (mainframe) that played jeopardy and the variant that is used in different academic systems for research is a computer based on what IBM cals cognitive technologies. This is not to be confused with "IBM Watson" services they provide under their cloud umbrella.
It appears to me that Watson is actually an Expert System (or at least was initially), not AI the way we think of today (ML, GenAI). Details are a bit sketchy on how the system works in detail, but the fact that it's primary use cases were medical diagnosis seems to confirm that suspicion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.163.84.149 (talk) 12:52, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
