What exactly, sans demolition, made Waverley Park controversial? --Aika 22:18, 6 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

The fact that:

  • It is in the "Melbourne Rain Belt" and such rain was a common feature at this ground
  • The fact that it was designed to be one of the biggest stadiums in the world
  • The fact that it was a nightmare for anybody from Melbourne CBD and the inner suburbsto get to the stadium
  • The fact that public transport was non existant
  • The fact that the VFL could (and should) have used it as a bargining tool to twist the MCC the way that they wanted them to do.
  • The fact that it was the traditional home of World Series Cricket, the rebel competition going up against the status quo
  • And, the design left patrons with weather protection akin to a bus shelter — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.230.125.92 (talk) 10:13, 9 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

"an often controversial"

edit

It is all very good and well saying that the stadium was "often controversial" but then the article doesn't tell us why it was regarded as controversial. Evil Monkey - Hello 06:00, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Waverley1.jpg

edit

Image:Waverley1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

AFL Park?

edit

I don't recall the ground ever having this name. Is there any documentation around to support this? Mustard Pot (talk) 05:46, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Current status should mention the current problems with Mirvac is facing regarding the above ground power pylons. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.230.101.30 (talk) 06:06, 3 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

AGREED - Relevant information about what has transpired post AFL cessation of ground use. Also as scarce open space in increasingly built-up environment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by A M R Sydney (talkcontribs) 08:57, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Written in the vernacular, with one opinion predominating, as if it should never have been built. It did not attract rain, for instance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.147.66.173 (talk) 13:15, 25 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
