Having grown up in the area I am sure the following information on the Weirton page has been added as a joke: It is also the only city in America where gay prostitution is not only legal, but is encouraged as a boost to the local economy.

I also having grown up in the area (65 years ago) and leaving the area in 1984 believe this to be someones sick joke. However, leaving in 1984, I guess things could have changed but i can assure you that in Weirton, WV, a noted Steel Town, in 1984 Gays were still in the "Closet". A "STEEL CLOSET" at that. If in fact Gay Prostitution is "LEGAL" in Weirton we have only to thank the local POLITICOS and SHIFTY Lawyers who own gambling establishment and racketeering enterprizes there. We, who grew up there, know who the "LAWYER SHARKS" are as some of them were convicted felons caught by former Sheriff Ron Donnell who has since passed on. Anyone who lived there in the 50's, 60's 70's & 80's know who these people are. Guess some things never change.GFDL

"Gay Prostitution Legal in Weirton, WV"? Hee Hee!! Who let the Dogs Out? My oh my what a revelation! I, as those above, believe this to be a sick joke by a very sick individual who has an axe to grind with the citizens of Weirton. Having lived here my entire life I can say, without a doubt, Prostitution in any form is illegal in Weirton as well as the State of WV. The only thing that has changed in Weirton is gambling , to some extent, has been legalized and a once booming steel town is now layed prey to the same old crooks who ran the gambling before it was legalized. These crooks prey on those hard working folks who are looking to hit it "BIG" since the Steel Mill has been reduced to a shadow of its former size. Folks are desperate, in todays economy, to eke out a living and these vultures in "Legalized" gambling suck the life blood out of the once hard working men and women of the surrounding area of Weirton. One thing the people of Hancock County should be paying attention to is the upcoming election of Sheriff. There is some illegal activity going on in the Courthouse and i believe the existing Sheriff is unaware of it. Perhaps the FBI, a new Sheriff or State Police should get involved. There are several areas of the existing personnel of the Courthouse which should be investigated and dealt with and my opinion is a special Grand Jury should be convened to look into these matters. RSVP? NUTS?

Why would you delete history of a city

edit

Why would you delete the history of a city you know nothing about, Jredmond and Jeff G.?

There is only one citation in that entire section, and it is only indirectly relevant to Weirton (and nestled among peacock terms). The content needs to be sourced if it's going to be here, so until I find sources for that information (and yes, I'm looking) it needs to stay out. You can either help us find and cite sources — and your tone here indicates that you must be sitting on a ton of them — or you can continue edit warring with your interestingly unused account. - Jredmond (talk) 17:55, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
As I told Jeff G. all of the historical information dating up to the last ~20 years can be found in the Mary H. Weir Public Library 3442 Main Street Weirton, WV 26062. (304) 797-8510.
Great! You'll have no problem adding all those citations, then. - Jredmond (talk) 18:12, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
