Removal of picture in article
editRemoval of picture of Richard Serra's piece Fulcrum is unwarranted. It is not the best illustration of welded sculture, but in an article devoid of pictures, it is my belief that an illustration of welded sculpture is better than none at all. If Welded sculpture is to be a visual arts article it needs more pictures, not less. I have put the picture back in the article for this reason. I fail to see how removing it would serve any purpose. If the person removing it has an explanation of why it was removed then please have the courtesy of leaving a few remarks on this page to let the rest of us know what the problem is. I have checked, and it doesn't appear to be a copyright problem. If you can find a better illustration of welded sculpture, then by all means, please contribute freely.
I will admit that I have seen better examples of welded sculpture, but resent removal without some sort of explanation. Cuprum17 (talk) 03:37, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
Fulcrum by Richard Serra is not welded sculpture. It is as a matter of fact the opposite of welded sculpture, it's pieces rigged into place with cranes and carefully balanced so that their own weight stops them from falling. Since this is a completely different approach to steel sculpture than welding (which uses heat or electricity to connect their pieces with a physical bond.) I think that an image of Fulcrum is not only inadequate representation of welded sculpture but also a factual error. Lack of welding involved in this piece, warrants removal of it's image from this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Appendixagony (talk • contribs) 18:59, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
