Talk:Welsh Cup

Is there a reason for Hereford United being higher than Newtown? Because Hereford has one win and Newtown has two wins in the table, I think 2 is more than 1 and Newtown should be higher. 85.217.42.86 (talk) 05:19, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

No reason I could see, so I changed it. Thanks for bringing it up. Cheers, Daicaregos (talk) 13:39, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wrong line?

edit

Is this line "The top three winners, which are the biggest professional clubs in Wales and compete in the English Football League, have not been able to add any more wins since 1995 as they are no longer allowed to compete in the competition." not now wrong, given that they were invited (even if they choose not to take up the option)? 109.148.209.114 (talk) 23:42, 12 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, not really a useful point as all the 6 teams in the English leagues weren't able to add to their tally and now they have been invited to participate. Also the point is really made in the participants section of the article anyway. Hence I've deleted the point and referenced this talk page. Pwimageglow (talk) 14:37, 13 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

English-based clus

edit

"some clubs playing in England were also invited to play in the Welsh Cup, but could not progress to the European Cup Winners' Cup by winning the Welsh cup."

Does this mean clubs with home games in England (e.g. Shrewsbury Town), or does it also include Welsh teams that played in English leagues (e.g. Cardiff City)? jnestorius(talk) 21:56, 27 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Article is wrong on this issue : Until 1995, Cardiff City and other teams played in English Leagues, won Welsh cup several times and progressed to UEFA Cup Winner's Cup.212.23.175.185 (talk) 10:44, 1 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Overview of team successes - use of italics

edit

The table is missing an explanation of why and when italics are used. I first considered this to be now defunct clubs, but e. g. Flint does still exist. --131Platypi (talk) 13:10, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Oswestry White Star???

edit

How has this idea that Oswestry White Star reached two Welsh Cup finals come about? The side involved 100% was plain old Oswestry, the OWS club was a much more marginal one. In Vitrio (talk) 18:06, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
