Article's probably in the wrong place. Chinese always prefers short forms and this overview of Chinese gods gives the primary form as Wendi; "Wenchang Wang" doesn't even make the cut for appearing in the list of epithets. — LlywelynII 04:23, 14 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Big Dipper

edit

I looked up Siming. It is in Aquarius, not anywhere near "the Big Dipper" (Ursa Major), depending on your definition of "near". (I'm not sure if modern Aqr corresponds to the (ancient?) Chinese one.) For those interested, Wikipedia claims 24 Aquarius and 26 Aquarius comprise Siming. They are located North of the astronomical equator above Sadalmelik (alpha Aquarius) (26 is approx. on a line from gamma to alpha Aq. but below delta Aq. (a brighter star). 24 Aqr is approx on a line between 26 Aqr and Sadalsuud maybe 1/3rd of way from 26). HIP designations 24 Aqr = 106942(A) and 26 Aqr = 107144. I suspect either a translation error or an astronomical mix-up. Siming is very faint and isn't likely to be one of its six "stars".71.31.145.237 (talk) 18:36, 3 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
