wow info correction

comments below are correct with respect to this whole section which is full of unsourced errors. Much of this is well-documented and has been written consistently and accurately over the years. we will make an attempt to come back and work on this and some of the rest of it soon. here brief reference to 'dated gene simmons' was removed. this is entirely false (as a scan of the publicity and news on this during the time would show as well as after). Someone apparently added it back in on the grounds that there was no evidence to remove it when it was removed first. But this is an inverted argument. To put something like that in to begin with about a person REQUIRES sourcing and there was none given. Nor, to anyone who followed the press/historical details of the production was this ever a thought. There was not a 'dating' relationship here but rather one of mutual professional respect. correction arrival in NY again

the correction made by the person below Cinemondo is entirely correct but the erroneous line about her "By 1978 began regularly appearing in pornographic films and live sex shows..." was put in again, apparently by someone who wants to try and sell bootleg or other things that she was not even in or for whatever reason. Whoever keeps inserting this one line which is clearly false as the actual story (as the other editor points out) clearly shows in any reputable source is doing so for some malicious or opportunistic reason. correction on arrival in NY

article had her arriving in 1978 and starting to work regularly in x rated films. I have not footnoted the corrections because what I'm putting in is well known. They can easily be provided. So before changing please ask and I'll get references. Much of this covered in the Wendy O Williams and Plasmatics "10 Years of Revolutionary Rock N Roll" DVD but it is generally well known. Firstly she did not arrive in NY in 1978 that was the year the Plasmatics, put together with Rod Swenson first started performing. The group was actualy put together in 1977. She arrived in NY in 1976 and met where she met Swenson. She started working with him in his theatre and it was out of that that they put the group together a little over a year later. Next, she did not start working regularly in x rated films. She never worked in x rated films with the exception of making one cameo appearance (which was filmed in 1977) in Candy Goes to Hollywood. Any other stories or reports are false.

I have taken the liberty of removing the Candy Goes to Hollywood piece not because it is false but because this was an entirely trivial part of her career and this bio at this point is so empty as to her accomplishments, and I will try and furnish more of these soon, that it is extremely disproportionate to inlcude this at least at this time (it could be put back as a real side line or footnote sometime) but it was really a short 'throw away' and honestly from my perspective has no place in her biography. Now this is the only 'subjective' thing I've done as far as editing. I hope others will agree and just leave this out for the time being. The people who have made a point out of publicizing this are those who have (actually illegally since her name has not supposed to be used associated with this film) a financial interist in it. So I say let's get in a fuller story of her life and accomplishments and then if this needs to go back in put it in then. Cinemondo404

some minor bio changes

much of this early bio material is wrong and needs additional work. many of the correctons that need to be done come from well-documented sources that have been around for a long time and are consistent with each other. Wendy did not work as a stripper in Europe but instead as a macro-biotic cook in London (an important part of her life was her vegatarianism) and then with a Gypsy dance troupe travelling through Europe. I have not given a source in the text but may try and put one in when I have time and especially after some of the rest of this is corrected. The source could be any one of the official bios produced and re-produced from the time Wendy was alive with information supplied by her (e.g, album/cd liner notes etc.). If I had to cite one source now it would be the bio DVD on Wendy which in addition to giving the story actually re-produces a scanned copy of the bio sheet given out as part of Wendy's press package when she was alive and endorsed and corroborated by her. Much of what is here instead is something someone apparently made up with either good or bad intent but in any case completely unsubstantiated. koopa

Took out the "named after koopa kid" thing. It was even taken out on the koopa kid page because it's just fan speculation, and not fact, which is what it's often passed off as in Wikipedia. 141.150.116.241

I disagree with this. It still remains on the Koopa Kid page, as does the reference to Lemmy Kilmester. Don't you think it's too much of a coincidence that both of them have the same name as Koopa kids, and that most of them are named after rock stars? I would like to add this back in, if it's okay. Most notably, why was the "Candy Goes to Hollywood" info removed, and why was the Gene Simmons dating reference removed? High school record

Williams appears in her tenth-grade class photo in the 1965 edition of "Reveille," the yearbook of R.L. Thomas High School, so it is incorrect that she left high school "after the ninth grade," as was previously stated in the Wikipedia entry (and elsewhere). The class photos, by photographer Robert Allen of Allen Studios in Webster, NY, were taken midway through the fall semester, so Williams must have attended tenth grade at least through October of 1964. I attended the same high school at the same time. I have no memory of Wendy quitting school during the school year, and because news of any student quitting school would have gone immediately and thoroughly through the grapevine, it is my personal opinion that she attended high school at least through the end of the tenth grade. Other sources say she hitchhiked west at the age of sixteen. Based on her date of birth and year in school, she would have turned sixteen at the end of tenth grade.

I have a memory (shared by other classmates) of Williams playing clarinet as a member of the high school concert/marching band, but she does not appear in the band photo in the same yearbook, so we may be mistaken in that regard, or she may have left the band before the photo was taken.

See Tom Snyder viz. the Plasmatics blowing up a TV in his studio, disrupting a live network newscast on a different floor, and subsequent appearances. These noted events are at least enough for a cross-link if not more but I'm too lazy to do this now. -Wfaxon 21:20, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

The topic seems a better fit here or on the Plasmatics page, inasmuch as those events were a bigger part of the band's public careers than they were for Tom Snyder. Questionable 'fact's

I question whether she ever sold crocheted bikinis and danced with gypsies. Park Ranger?

Obituaries in 1998 reported that she was a Park Ranger in a National or State Park at the time of her death. If true, this needs references, and should be noted on the main page.Vpfritz (talk) 07:15, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

The obits (AP and otherwise) consistently report she was a wildlife rehabilitator and health store worker in 1998; no sources (WP:RS) are readily available to indicate she was a ranger at any park. Dl2000 (talk) 15:38, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

W.O.W. in "Killed by Death"

In the video for Motorhead's song "Killed by Death", the dune buggy driven by the band has the letters "W.O.W." spray-painted on the side. Does anyone know if this is a reference to Wendy ?
