Editorial changes

edit

The changes from the version printed in the Times and Seasons were made in 1851 and 1902 according to the article Articles of Faith, and I included those figures in the present article. But the quote from JF Smith indicates the changes were made in 1921. Can another editor resolve this discrepency? --Blainster 20:29, 22 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

The correct dates are 1851 and 1902, corresponding to publication dates of editions of the Pearl of Great Price. The Tanners have scanned these PGP editions, and they indeed show the changes. I haven't checked the Joseph Fielding Smith cite, but if he actually said 1921, he's wrong. Also, he's wrong that the Articles of Faith was part of the Doctrine and Covenants. Thanks. I didn't see the JF Smith quote on AoF being in D&C but he must have meant the Lectures on Faith, which was part of the earlier D&C editions rather than Articles of Faith. --Blainster 11:56, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

The following at least needs a citation. It is controversial, even among some Mormon scholars.

"Some have asserted that the First Vision was ignored, and was added to the proselyting message only recently. However, this assertion ignored the 1832 account of the First Vision, the second attempt at writing an official history of the church. Also, it ignores the fact that early on, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had no formal and systemized format for preaching the Gospel. (See the Preface to A Marvelous Work and A Wonder.)" —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.182.236.190 (talk) 19:52, 17 April 2007 (UTC).Reply
