Mary Bartelme School
editI am not sure how to add a public school to the page that was demolished in 1981 https://rpwrhs.org/w/index.php?title=Mary_Bartelme_Elementary_School https://rpwrhs.catalogaccess.com/photos/3463. It is significant for the hostage incident where in 1974 a father had a schizophrenic episode, thought the world was ending, was killing his family to prevent their suffering, killed his wife, went to the school to kill his son, held my class hostage for 30m, but staff convinced him to leave, and he was arrested in Indiana on his way to kill his parents. This was vaguely reported in the neighborhood paper at the time, but I have been unable to find the clipping I had nor have I found the newspaper's archives online. User:Speciate has proposed to merge Golden Ghetto into here. Please add your comments. below. --B. Wolterding 18:04, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Merge. I support the merger, since the Golden Ghetto article does not establish notability on its own. It's only a neighborhood, so a rather small area. --B. Wolterding 18:04, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Merge. I think the Golden Ghetto article should be merged into here. Lesley b linux 21:59, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Economic Status of West Ridge
editAt one time this neighborhood could be classified as middle to upper middle class, but those days are long gone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.57.183.5 (talk) 18:29, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
- It is still middle class by any reasonable standard, especially now that "middle class" has become a media trope for working class. Most of West Ridge is better than working class.67.173.10.34 (talk) 04:08, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Larry Siegel
Peterson Park
editThe PNG map in the sidebar is incorrect -- Peterson Park isn't located in West Ridge, nor is it by the North Shore Channel of the Chicago River. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.226.43.30 (talk) 06:11, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Is someone going to fix this? I checked Google Maps, and according to the borders defined in this article, the user before me is correct, Peterson Park is not located where the PNG map shows it. --38.100.105.131 (talk) 11:49, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
