Improvements

edit

Could some West Springfield students do some improvements?

I’d like to see some history on WSHS Participation in Its Academic, the TV high school quiz show.

In 1968, Mark Rae, Mike Christopherson and I represented WSHS. In its first time in the competition, we won our first match, a rarity at the time. The next year, a new team won their first two matches. Our coach was chemistry teacher Edith Durie.

I’d like to know how subsequent teams did and if WSHS still participates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:6080:D941:5700:29B7:65B4:32BB:AED0 (talk) 02:51, 20 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Notable Alumni

edit

Are there no notable alumni from our school? Some of the "Alumni of note" could go under a new section called "Notable Alumni" at the bottom. --Onionkim 05:46, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I added US astronaut Patrick Forrester. 9 August 2010 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.116.157.44 (talk) 23:23, 9 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Too much emphasis on band

edit

There is too much emphasis on the band program. Where is choir, orchestra? How about other programs in the school? It should be either all in or all out. --70.108.185.189 05:47, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

band freaks :o. well, im a band freak myself, so i cant say much lol. --The Fear 23:17, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

If the choir and orchestra students cared about it as much as the marching band students do, your question would be a moot point. These band kids work hard for what they do and earn. They have EARNED the right to be proud.

What, and students in the other programs don't? May I ask how much experience you have with these kids?

A lot of great work has gone into the West Springfield page and it shows. Random allum

There IS no mention of orchestra and this has been a long standing program that has won many awards! Why all the noise from brass and no strings attached? Alanherman (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 22:13, 20 February 2010 (UTC).Reply

1991 Renovation

edit

One of the US/VA History teachers today, Mr. Perccoco, said that after these renovations about 12 girls began to faint all the time, which basically mass hysteria... he said the media buffs were everywhere. Anybody know where we could get a hold of articles written? Thehockeydude44 23:53, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Wspringfieldhs.jpg

edit

Image:Wspringfieldhs.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Wang Chung concert

edit

On March 31, 1987, the band Wang Chung played a concert at WSHS (that doesn't sound very cool in 2008 but it was at the time). Is that interesting or worthy enough to warrant inclusion in the school's entry? I've got the newspaper articles from the Post and the Journal, along with that edition of WSHS's Oracle. Somebody second this motion and I'll write it up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LwsP729 (talkcontribs) 02:50, 17 May 2008 (UTC) I second that motion and do not forget to emphasize that this concert was for John Moore, who was in the hospitable after being hit by a bus near Rivington and Rolling road, and that is was the schools students who valiantly fille out 204,547 index cards for a Q107 radio contest to show their support for this great guy. Of course, none of the editorial parts can be in there, but be inclusive of all the facts, it is a great part of WSHS history. Diamond Spartans

edit

Moved from another section

What the hell are the "Diamond Spartans"??? When I was there with Tugwell (early 90s)we were just the Spartans. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 159.142.204.47 (talk) 19:36, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

The phrase was added in this edit. It seems to refer just to the baseball team. I'll tweak the section a little bit. FlamingSilmaril (talk) 21:04, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dance Team Needs Rewrite

edit

This section is really poorly written. So much so that I don't understand the facts well enough to rewrite it. Could someone familiar with this topic take a jab at it? (talk) 21:04, 14 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
