Decendents of Dutch & Germans huh?

edit

A portion in the article assumes way too much about Norwegians "Thousands of Norwegians are decendents of Dutch & Germans", ahem i would actually like to see a genetic study to prove this because so far all Norwegians are closer to other Scandinavians than they are Dutch or Germans. You can't just say vague things like "Oh thousands of people are decendent from a couple traders" and pass it off as fact. Likewise the Norse ancestry in the British is also something that is very overestimated by Nordic "wannabes". Not even in Eastern England (the portion thats always claimed as the Viking areas) do they look like Scandinavians. They also have the same porportion of Haplogroup R1b as the rest of the British isles and as the rest of Western Europe. Something that is uncommon in all of Scandinava. Traces of Haplogroup I1 are rare to none in Britain at best. Its exactly like the claim of Brits being Anglo Saxons, its like claiming the Italians are decendents from Romans FEW Brits today are decended from Saxons, infact i'd say the celt influence is stronger. Britain & Italy were not like Scandinavia, an area that has always had a relatively small homegeneous population. Brits are among one of the most mixed up groups of people in Europe. They are neither Vikings or Saxons. Few decendents of the two exist in Britain.

It is also worthy to note that NO place in Netherlands or Germany (Not even Northern Germany) looks like Scandinavia, the Northern Germans are infact darker than even the Danish. The difference between Scandinavians & Germans/Dutch. The Dutch/Germans have much more Celtic & Mediterranean admixture than the Scandinavians, while the Scandinavians are perhaps the most still predominantly Germanic people in Europe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:C4EA:CA0:1156:9723:93CA:D759 (talk) 21:50, 20 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Flag

edit

The Norwegian regions do not have flags. The flag previously displayed here is not used in real life and should be concidered an interent phnomenon or a private proposal. Each municipality and county has an officially sanctioned flag, but even these are not widely used. Inge (talk) 09:32, 25 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Christianity

edit

It says 98 % of Western Norwegians are Christian, but the truth is only around 10-20 %. Almost all those 98 % are registrated in the Norwegian State Church when they are born. Most Norwegians dont consider them selves christian or religious. 83.108.194.198 (talk) 22:56, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Language

edit

I removed the passage about the classification of the standards and dialects of the Norwegian language, because it contradicts the information in the articles Norwegian language, North Germanic languages and Bokmål. The consensus in these articles is that all varieties of Norwegian belong to the West Scandinavian branch, regardless of the amount of East Scandinavian influence they display. — Preceding unsigned comment added by VonPeterhof (talkcontribs) 13:07, 31 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
