- What's a "motorway box"?
- "to an all-purpose road" is that a "thing" in the UK? What makes an A-road "all-purpose" and an (M)-road not "all-purpose"?
- Yes, an A-road is by default "all-purpose" meaning it is a public highway accepting all traffic, including pedestrians, cycles, tractors and milk floats. M-roads, however, are restricted by the Special Roads Act 1949, which is why you used to get signs saying "NO L-drivers, mopeds, motorcycles under 50cc, invalid carriages, pedal cycles, pedestrians animals" (and still do in Ireland). - Understood, but do our readers? The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 18:37, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- A link to special road (with a bit of an improvement and source) should hopefully clarify that, now the definition is a link that explains what it is. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:07, 27 September 2019 (UTC)

- "Flyover at junction" no need to speak robot, just write in plain English.
- Are notes [a] and [b] referenced anywhere?
- Nope. I remember why I put them in footnotes, to get them out of the way of the main text, so I could source (and then fix to what the source said). So removed. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:03, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- " Great Western Main Line" same old, "main line" issue. It's a pity this hasn't been worked out to a suitable conclusion over the past year or two or however long...
- Well I think it should be all caps, but what do I know? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:03, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- " Grenfell Tower is visible to the south" seems mildly odd to pass this by without saying "remains of" or similar.
- Damn remainers :-P I've gone with "site of"
- "Western Avenue[3]" nasty placement, any chance of just waiting until punctuation or the end of the sentence, I'm sure our readers can cope. Especially as the next few clauses go reference-free.
- The whole paragraph is cited across multiple pages in Asher's book. Would it help if I split them up, putting in more specific inline citations?
- Well you don't have to do that, I just think you could move [3] to the end of the next piece of punctuation. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 18:37, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, I've moved the refs into a slightly neater position. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:07, 27 September 2019 (UTC)

- " County of London Plan, 1943 " odd one this, not all of it in italics and clicking on the link, it's not considered as a work in Wikipedia terms so not italicised at all. Would "County of London Plan (1943)" be more appropriate?
- Ditto the next work.
- I've copyedited this so it's a bit clearer. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:20, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- "of motorway standard roads" should be "of motorway-standard roads" if you're talking about roads of a motorway standard, right?
- I can never remember how to do these, but I guess you're right
- " construction of the elevated roundabout junction with the West Cross Route was built" I'm not sure that makes wholesale sense, "construction of.. was built" just seems odd, to me.
- Bad copyediting. Fixed Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:20, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- "from mid 1960s "->"from the mid-1960s "
- "by the Greater London Council (GLC) " already linked and abbreviated in the previous section.
- "support 3 lanes in" three.
- "The road was chosen to be elevated..." sentence has a few too many run-on clauses for my taste.
- "compulsory purchase" could be nicely linked to Compulsory purchase in England and Wales.
- "minimized" still using "minimised" in BritEng.
- "HA loading plus 45 units of HB loading" wut? wut?? Even footnote [d] omits what HA loading means!
- In layman's terms, if you drive a HGV over a bridge (say, perhaps something delivering kegs of beer to the Parcelyard, King's Cross), it needs to be able to support the entire weight distribution so the road doesn't collapse under it. That's HA loading. HB loading is that and more, so you can do things like drive armoured tanks along the Westway in the event of an emergency. It's technical, but a widely recognised term for civil engineers. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:20, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- Could link "Minister for Transport" to Secretary of State for Transport?
- I guess so Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:07, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- "Minister of Transport, John Peyton and junior transport minister Michael Heseltine on" consistency with commas here, probably either side of each name or none.
- Removed the first comma
- "28 July 1970 at a total cost of £30 million" could inflate for 2018 pounds.
- "in Europe[20] and " similar "awkward placing" comment as previous.
- Could link Ordnance Survey (in the caption).
- "and since 2000 local" comma(s) here.
- Done, also split sentence Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:07, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- "brighten up" perhaps "illuminate"?
- It's not really lighting as such, but just giving the area a lick of paint to make it nicer. Gone with "visual appearance" Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:07, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- Link M11.
- Could link "Mayor of London".
- You seem to refer to it as "The/the Westway" almost universally, but almost. Is that a thing? If so, could you be consistent...?
- As far as I can tell, it's lower case except when starting a sentence. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:07, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- ""But their world..." cool quote but looks odd completely standalone in the prose...
- Trimmed and integrated Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:07, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- "British Rock " -> "British rock".
- The T in the in This Is The Modern World shouldn't be capitalised.
- "pictures of which appeared on their second album" presumably on the album cover?
- Gone with "inner sleeve", the cover is the Barney Bubbles artwork Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:07, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- "The Westway threads its..." caption is a complete sentence so it needs a full stop.
- I don't remember adding that, but "threads its way" is a bit whimsical, so copyedited too Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:07, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- "pp. 9–10,46." space after comma. Apply to all.
- No ISBN for the last of the five sources?
- I can't find one, the best I can do is an Amazon ID. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:13, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- Some German Capitalisation in the External Links Section.
- I Have Fixed These Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:13, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- "Streets in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea" is a category yet this fact is never noted in the article, at least not by direct name.
That's enough for a welcome back gift at this stage, I'll put the article on hold while you find your feet again. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 17:40, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- I guess I'll give this a couple more days before closing it out. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 08:27, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry, real life has intervened - I will hopefully get cracking on these in the next day or two. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 08:56, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- No need to apologise and no rush. The comments will be there whenever you get some time to address them, just take your time. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 09:00, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

- Top ho and spiffing, and likewise. I'm steering clear of the administrative side and focusing on content. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:20, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah, for some reason I re-discovered GANs just before the recent drive started, so I've been a busy little tinker. Almost too busy to complain about Arbcom and the dreadful state of the Main Page! Long may it continue... The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 10:31, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
