Skytrain stations

edit

article is incorrect, two of the skytrain stations are located in Whalley not SCC. Gateway is located on the wrong side of 108th "northern border" and Scott Road is located quite a ways outside of SCC. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.80.58.5 (talk) 08:35, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

The articles states that Whalley is a town centre of Surrey and that four Skytrain stations are located within that town centre. I am not sure what you are arguing. --Kmsiever 03:07, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Name of article

edit

I'm continuing discussion from Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board#Assistance Request:

I'll freely admit that I'm unfamiliar with Surrey but I wonder if Whalley, British Columbia isn't the best name for the article. A cursory google search seems to indicate that it's more popularly referred to as such over Whalley/City Centre. Even some of the sections on the City of Surrey's website refer to it only as Whalley and the quote above from the City staff member says that the City Centre is a centre within Whalley area. While Whalley was the name for the region, in the '90s when the city became a city it created the City Centre district, which is considered a subdivision of Whalley for census purposes, but the city is officialy seperated into the six town centres with Whalley/City Centre being one of them. City Centre is only considered a seperate area from whalley for census details and zoning. Whalley being the predominently residential area, and City Centre being zoned for commercial/high density. From my corrispondance with the city staff member they tell me that the offical name is Whalley/City Centre and that City Centre is not itself its own seperate district, and is part of the Whalley/City Centre Community Plan. "City Centre" is an area within Whalley. It does not identify the whole of Whalley. For example, Birdland is in Whalley but is not in City Centre. Therefore an article about Whalley should not include the title "City Centre," which is only one of many distinct areas within Whalley. Additionally, City Centre is a newly created sub-division of Whalley and was created for the City's municipal and civic facilities rather than reflecting organic development. The City's website shows a map of all town centres of Surrey and illustrates City Centre with a dotted line border within the solid line borders of Whalley. That is, it is not a "real" centre but merely a zoning distinction. It also lists "City Centre" separately from "Whalley" under "Surrey Communities." Changed per Cdnshipsnote, and per the Surrey website. City Centre is one of the sections of Whalley. The City itself has pages for City Centre and Whalley, so someone could legitimately split City Centre off into its own article, were there enough content. But for all intents and purposes, it's just a greater density zoning plan. -- Zanimum (talk) 02:08, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
