Was hoping they'd be a castle to look at when I finally returned to GAN, and here it is -- will try to post something in the next week or so. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 23:42, 16 December 2017 (UTC).Reply

Toolbox checks

No dab, EL or copyvio issues

Prose/structure
  • Copyedited a little as usual so pls let me know if I misinterpreted anything; no outstanding issues as far as I'm concerned.
Images
  • All licensing checked out.
References
  • All sources looked prima facie reliable, and all external links worked for me.
  • Formatting-wise, my only query is the very last citation reading "Goodall 2011, pp. 45-45" -- do we mean just page 45 or pp. 45-46 or something else?
Detail
  • Although I didn't feel a particular lack of information in the article, I guess we need to decide whether we want to add anything else per KJP1's comment below, so I'll leave this open for now... Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 09:54, 27 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ian Rose - Ian, just a suggestion, and nothing to stand in the way of your finishing up the GAR. I do think the isolated setting of the castle is interesting, as well as very scenic, and in stark contrast to those of its "sister" castles, which sit snugly in their villages. Maybe it's because I spent quite a lot of my youth climbing its walls and admiring the spectacular, and lonely, views. But for you and Hchc to call. KJP1 (talk) 16:29, 28 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
We've already got a bit on the castle having initially poor accommodation (and being miserable and squalid!); I'd be relaxed if someone wanted to add more on it. Hchc2009 (talk) 16:45, 28 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Tks guys -- I might just pass this as GA then, and if anyone wants to add more (perhaps before ACR or FAC, if those are on the radar) then they can do so... Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 03:03, 29 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Newman has a fair bit on the castle including some interesting material on how the inadequacy of the accommodation suggests it was always more of a garrison fort than a lordly residence. He suggests this accounts for the absence of a village and a church being developed next to the castle. A useful source (pp=596-600). KJP1 (talk) 21:57, 21 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
