References In Progress

edit

I'm finding a lot of articles are referencing specific performances. They seem like they go beyond reporting upcoming concert dates. There are interviews here in legit magazines, like Vibe which would be useful in actually writing the article once it is WP:NMMUSIC

See if any of these are useful (I kept everything I found, good or bad)

Choosing the best three sources

edit

AngusWOOF suggested identifying the strongest three for notability and verificability. Assistance with this is definitely appreciated.

Here's the running:

additionally:

  • Billboard charting single on the dance/electronic chart, peaked at #41, on for 2 weeks.
  • Short features in Billboard, SFGate, Village Voice, etc., about upcoming singles, concerts,

On mobile so can't edit for real: for the 3rd choice I would choose Village Voice. https://www.villagevoice.com/2010/12/15/the-white-panda/ More than just a listing of a concert date, it puts the White Panda in cultural context telling the reader -why- their music, and their upcoming show, is notable. The Village Voice is a major independent news source for counterculture art. Semitones (talk) 02:07, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I added some sources to improve the verifiability and notability of the article after a lengthy break. Let me know where it stands. --Semitones (talk) 15:22, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Updated Best Three Sources

edit

Assistance is still definitely appreciated.

See also: vibe, billboard, and others. While not independent sources, they are mainstream music press and speak to the notability of White Panda in the mashup/college scene. Semitones (talk) 02:12, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Re: Gryffin comment

Saving draft comment re:gryffin in case sources are needed later

Re: Gryffin: I'm not sure, but I think he is trying to make an independent name for himself as an artist, which is why I'm leaving that page alone. I've seen several references, and have sourced several. Both Dan "Gryffin" Griffith and Dan "DJ Griffi" Griffith are from San Fransisco Bay Area, produce electronic music, and are around the same age. I've found these sources talking about it. Here are additional sources for verification: https://www.edmtunes.com/2015/11/gryffin-announces-debut-live-tour-los-angeles-new-york/ and another https://www.allmusic.com/artist/white-panda-mn0003605695/biography --Semitones (talk) 01:26, 25 May 2020 (UTC) First I heard about it: [here]. Improvements to article

edit

Hi all, it looks like there is some contention with this article, since the current artist seems to have perpetrated some kind of cryptocurrency fraud? I am not exactly sure what has happened, but I am trying to improve the article with an image and some details that keep being removed. If you are an editor, please let me know if you are reverting or removing why you are doing so, in that case I can make changes. Semitones (talk) 21:18, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Which Photo to Use

edit

Hey, I reverted the photo back to the one of the duo act. I think the main photo of the article should reflect the most notable period of the band's history, and the most newsworthy references I could find were of their early period. @Adultsherrif, I also noticed that the photo is listed as "own work" -- are you the photographer? Can you put some credits on it? Perhaps we can use it later on in the article as a way to identify the artist's current appearance. Semitones (talk) 16:10, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
