I've heard these sand dunes around white sand missile base are "growing". That the sand is actually expanding, 14 ft a year. I also heard it may someday swallow up the whole area. Why cant I find information on this anywhere on the web supporting or refuting it? Is the sand actually growing? I've receently watched the documentary "Vernon Florida" in which a couple goes to the base on vacation. The woman gathers a bit of the sand for a keepsake in a mason jar, 15 years later the sand has trippled in amount. What is really going on on this base? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.8.145.196 (talk) 17:05, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Should a search for White Sands point here?
editI just threw White Sands into the search box, and came to: White Sands. Surely the most common search for White Sands would be looking for the Missile Range and Space Facility, and not what to my knowledge is an obscure movie from 1992...
So, does anyone else agree that the movie page should be moved to White Sands (movie), and White Sands redirect to this page?

I think a disambiguaton page should be made, as there are pages for the missile range, monument, film and location in New Mexico. Does anyone else agree?

Pertaining to the citation needed to confirm the Transformers information. If it helps add any validity, I have a friend stationed at a base in the White Sands and has been offered a role in Transformers 2 since part of the movie will once again be shot there.
Jornada del Muerto
editThe area known as the Jornada del Muerto is on the west side of the San Andres Mountains in the Rio Grande Valley, not in the Tularosa Basin. "Jornada del Muerto" is not an old name for the White Sands area. Bejnar 16:25, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Area of the range
editSaying that the area of the range is about 3 times the size of Rhode Island is pointless; being from the UK, I have no idea how big Rhode Island is; this ideally should be removed. Mouse Nightshirt 13:14, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
