GA Reassessment

I came upon this article while meandering over Wikipedia's GA list. I'm disappointed in its quality and am planning to delist it from GA status if a number of issues are not addressed.

- First and foremost, the article contains a large number of unsourced statements, some of which are potentially controversial.
- For example:
As was the case (to varying degrees) in most European colonies in Africa and Asia, white immigrants took a privileged position in many areas of society. However, the position in Rhodesia was distinguished by the fact that the local settler minority entrenched its political, economic and social dominance of the country. Extensive areas of prime farmland were owned by whites. Senior positions in the public services were reserved for whites, and whites working in manual occupations enjoyed legal protection against job competition from black Africans. As time passed, this situation became increasingly unwelcome to the majority ethnic groups within the country and also to wide sections of international opinion, leading to the Rhodesian Bush War and eventually the Lancaster House Agreement.
- I don't at all take this as a given. Perhaps it's true, but racial privilege is an incredibly contentious topic.
- "Status of whites" contains two quotes smack in the middle of the text with no blockquote-style or other separation. There's also one in "Land".
- "White millionaires" consists questionable organization: rather little summary in favor of a list format. Same with "Music and theatre".
- Most urgent in this, though, is "Recent developments".
- A number of the article's sources look unreliable, such as About.com.
- Likewise, a number of sources that don't fly any sketchy flags aren't formatted correctly (or at all).
- "The white community has also recently been the targets of a smear campaign by the Zimbabwean State media." - I'm not sure this fits WP:NPOV.
- "Artistic expression often portrays "the melancholy white exile" from Zimbabwe who secretly longs to return home" - Elaborate.
- I would expect there to be claims of "black privilege" (perhaps under some other wording) now that Zimbabwe has a mostly black government and violence against whites largely goes unrecognized within the country. If so, please add them.
- File:Wright07s.jpg may not be fair use. I could easily see a free image replacing it.
Please fix these issues or tell me why they don't need to be. Tezero (talk) 14:07, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
