Waumbeck not in Whitefield
editThanks for the fine additions, Hugh_Manatee, but the Waumbeck Hotel and cottages were (and cottages still are) in Jefferson, not Whitefield. The postcard image appears to be looking northwest along the Meadows Road (Rt 115A) toward Mt Starr King. What we now call U.S. Highway 2 runs past the front of the cottages. Too many images?
editAll of the early-1900s postcard images in the Geography section seem unnecessary. They don't seem to add anything to the article and take up quite a bit of space. I've scoured the relevant style guides for images and I can't find any specific rules about this so I'm curious about what the community thinks. Thanks! Pugchump (talk) 18:34, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- WP:GALLERY says fairly clearly that image galleries such as the one in this article should not just be a repository of available images for an article's subject. I have seen people remove galleries for such a reason. Personally, I don't see it in this case as being obtrusive in the article, but I will defer to other editors' opinions. - I removed the last two images because they don't seem to be related to their respective sections at all. They appear to be filler that doesn't contribute much to the article. I feel that the gallery is also not exactly necessary for the article but I'll also defer to other editors' opinions on that matter. Pugchump (talk) 22:15, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
