Better sources
editI have to admit I am very skeptical that he was born along the Maumee River in 1763. We need better sources. I am finding some local history sources that mention him, like this historic marker. [https://shiawasseehistory.com/knaggs.html Here https://shiawasseehistory.com/knaggs.html is another source that mentions Knaggs. However this source [https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/125412308/whitmore-knaggs is making me think Peter Whitmore who established the trading post at the Knaggs Bridge area in Shiawasee County was his son.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:39, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
More sources
editThe University of Michigan finding aid [https://findingaids.lib.umich.edu/catalog/ehll--knaggs] on Knaggs' papers says that he fought under General Anthony Wayne in the American Revolutionary War. If this is true he almost certainly was not raised in the Maumee River Area, but raised further east. On the other hand if what is said in this article is largely correct, Knaggs almost certainly only served with General Wayne in the campaign that culminated in the Battle of Fallen Timbers.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:45, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
