iris menas

I added iris menas to the list of notable alums! It was flagged as not constructive, but menas is a nonbinary actor who prefers to uncapitalize their name who had a major supporting role in West Side Story (2021 film), is currently starring in Monster High (TV series), and has appeared in various Netflix television shows in substantial capacities. Open to discussion to clarify my own understanding of the standard for notable alumni if needed! Helloworldasdsa (talk) 09:02, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

National championship

I added a section on the 1925 championship. The article had earlier mentioned 1931 but it was not referenced or discussed. As far as I can tell there has not been a high school national champion since 1930 since schools opposed the program. I suspect the 1931 date comes from the AAU championships in which former Wichita players played.Americasroof (talk) 23:40, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

School articles target audience

School articles, like all articles on Wikipedia, are to be targeted to the entire English speaking world, not to people associated with the subject of the article. Given that, why are the notable alumni ordered by graduation date? Never mind that the infoinformation on grad dates is incomplete, unreferenced, and totally ignores that fact that an individual need not graduate to be considered an alumni. A person wanting to see if someone is associated with the school is going to look for the name. They probably won't know nor care about the grad date. Presenting info in this manner only serves to strengthen the already strong impression that this article is somehow for the school, not about the school. letterman jacket controversy

This is not a newspaper. We do not need anything at all in this article about this subject til it plays out. The "constructive" edits have been far from neutral, not all that surprising, as neither were the sources. And the vandalism has to stop. To that end, I've requested full protection for this article. I added some material on this to the History section before reading this on the Talk page. Looking now at the record of some recent edits on this topic, clearly some were vandalism. However, I am not sure what "til it plays out" means. Though not reflected in my edit, the school principal has apparently announced that there will be no change in its policy. Thus short of a lawsuit by the student in question it seems likely that this matter has "played itself out". Is it at that point not appropriate to include a note on this incident, as something that is no longer "mere news"? Rfontana (talk) 21:40, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

What people were meaning was to let all the craziness calm down and wait for a final decision. A brief summary of the school system decision should be added, because the topic isn't complete without it. I've removed the addition until a consensus can be reached. Thanks to- Rfontana for finding a more neutral source. At this point, all we have is nothing is going to change. To me, that says we add nothing to the article about it. However, I could live with one sentence in History, referenced to the Post, along the lines of, "a brief controversy over the right of a special needs student to wear a varsity letter he did not earn." Not the world's best wordsmith, so feel free to offer up something better. However, I adamantly oppose a subsection on this and absolutely oppose using any student or staff names. Wichita East Class-ring 1956

I am making an inquiry about my 1956 high school class ring. I recently found it and the letters are worn off on the’56 side. If I remember right, they are Latin letters that said something about the stars.
