Only historical significance?

There are a few WAIS servers running. WAIS is difficult to setup/use using "modern" software; it is not really used. Benn Newman 18:29, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Pretty sure wais has gone away by now, but the article should say more about the end of it in the History Section. The comparison to World Wide Web is also quite weak. Do I need to sign the mobile interface? Shanen (talk) 01:20, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Expand using comp.infosystems.wais FAQ list - would that be OK?

My goodness, this page is skimpy. Not even any mention of the participants of the WAIS project, or how it preceded the WWW and was competing with Gopher for being the most successful distributed information service. I suppose the FAQ from comp.infosystems.wais - http://www.uni-giessen.de/faq/archiv/wais-faq.getting-started/msg00000.html for example - could be used as a starting point for expanding this article. What is the Wipipedia policy on including or recycling stuff from Usenet FAQ lists, that are not otherwise marked with copyright information? I think it should be in the spirit of those Usenet FAQ lists, but that doesn't mean it's officially acceptable? --Lasse Hillerøe Petersen 18:14, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
