@New editing editor: In this revision you reverted my edit adding a dubious image of Wikipe-tan. But just because normal, well-adjusted people WP:DONTLIKE squicky pictures of the article subject doesn't mean they aren't encyclopedic. I didn't revert your revert removing the thumbnail-producing image, but I did add back in a link to the image so that people can ascertain what it is the quoted text from Jimbo is talking about — so perhaps call it a partial revert. Therefore, I start this talk page section discussing the matter per WP:BRR. — Arlo James Barnes 17:45, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I removed the image from the article because it doesn't seem to substantially help readers understand the topic more than the text in the article does. I don't think this article should have more pictures than it needs, even if they're all licensed under Creative Commons. New editing editor (talk) 23:55, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

This article was just moved from Wikipedia and mascots (like, right now). I would oppose this and prefer to move back to the old name, as the title is misleading ("Wikipedia mascots" as the official title could make viewers think Wikipedia has (an) official mascot(s)). I would say that the title Wikipedia and mascots more properly shows this, but I may just be talking. While I agree that the current title might be implying too much, the previous one implies too little. It may as well have said mascots and Wikipedia. Plus, the other articles in {{Wikipedia}} that include the word 'and' (deletionism and inclusionism in Wikipedia, LGBTQ and Wikipedia, relationship between Google and Wikipedia, Wikipedia and fact-checking) go more into depth about the relationship of the parts connected by the conjunction than this one does...the article is not about coverage of sports mascots on the site, for example.
