Potential sources

edit

In looking for some information on the characters to try and clean up the section a little, I found the show's official site for parents.

http://www.pbs.org/parents/wildkratts/show-characters.html

That's the characters page: other pages include information about the show's educational philosophy. I figure there might be something useful there to use as a spring board for fleshing out the real world information on the article. While I was poking around on the PBS site I also found a section for teachers so there might be something there as well. Millahnna (talk) 09:43, 27 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disputed Information

edit

Others have been editing the page to say that Martin and Aviva either have a crush on each other or are in love. This information has not been verified, and should not be allowed on the page, in any form or phrasing, as per Wikipedia's standards. SmallCheez (talk) 22:07, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Just for clarification, I had the following posted on my userpage and thought it would be a good idea to post it here:

  • There is still no definitive proof, not by what Wikipedia considers proof. WP:NOR
  • It is in fact biased. Newcomers to the page are not given the chance to watch the show and form their own opinion of the pairing. WP:NPOV
  • The edit uses weasel words, which is another no-no [sic]. WP:W2W
  • It often uses words like "seems" or "appear" in order to -weasel- (get it?) [sic] the reader into taking the statement as fact when it is unconfirmed.

I added the shortcuts here and will add them on my userpage when done with this edit. SmallCheez (talk) 05:25, 5 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Also, I was snooping this user's talk page and found this interesting tidbit of info linked to them from another user:
  • I can NOT emphasize this enough. There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative "I heard it somewhere" pseudo information is to be tagged with a "needs a cite" tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, unless it can be sourced. This is true of all information, but it is particularly true of negative information about living persons.
Therefore, any and all instances of the phrasing discussed that is unsourced should be simply reverted, and that be all (unless other edits need to be changed). Let us not forget that Martin Kratt is a real, living person as well.

Use of Episode Examples

edit

Maybe, instead of the table on the List of Episodes page, it should be a written page (like the article), and the article link the examples to the episode page? Here's what I mean:

The "Episodes" page would say in the summary for "The Blue and the Gray", that Martin was turned into a tree. The article would have the same information, but have a reference to the "episode" page beside it ("In one episode, Martin gets turned into a tree[1]"). Does that make sense?

What do you think? SmallCheez (talk) 05:26, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Nickelodeon745, could you give fundings.

WP:BOLD

edit

Since there's no one here to discuss it with, I'll be boldly rewriting the article now. SmallCheez (talk) 08:02, 29 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Could you cut the lede and plot sections by half? --Mollskman (talk) 04:00, 3 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Dispute

edit

Hey I was wondering if someone could maybe put in a quick article about the current dispute going on. It just seems like that people new to the show should have a right to know why exactly people are arguing and such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.20.97.37 (talk) 18:28, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Animals and gadgets

edit

I don't know how to best articulate my argument, but these sections feel a little WP:UNDUE. The gadgets moreso than the animals, but both seem a little bloated in terms of encyclopedically covering the show, and neither is cited, so I'm wondering if anyone might agree with their removal. - Purplewowies (talk) 06:06, 7 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Both sections were in-universe trivia, which pop up is a lot of kids' shows (I'm thinking of the gadgets in Inspector Gadget and the long list of clothing in LazyTown. I've removed both.
Yes, there might be some interest in some of this, but it is limited to fans of the show and is not encyclpedic. We could easily generate such lists (all of them similarly problematic) in virtually any show article: items ordered in the cafe in Friends, scientists mentioned in Big Bang Theory, dishes prepared on Hell's Kitchen, etc.
Animals covered in each episode are appropriately included at List of Wild Kratts episodes. I've just cleaned out some extensive lists of animals merely mentioned in episodes there. From what I recall when my niece watched the show, there are one or more main animals discussed in each episode. If the episode is primarily about the African lion, it certainly make sense to say so in an episode list. A few of the episodes seem to list far more than that. Anyone with the time and interest can certainly pare those down a bit. - SummerPhDv2.0 13:04, 7 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

How my 4 year old daughter is your biggest fan!

My 4 yr old daughter LOVES watching the Wild Kratts! She watches them everyday! You have taught her so very much! We live in a small town which we are proud of! It is Aztec New Mexico! And we are AZTEC STRONG! Here is the reason I'm telling you about my daughter! We were on our way home from Durango Colorado on December 26 2017 when a buck was right in the middle of the road! We had to slow way down and Elanna my 4 yr old tells us "It's a real live reindeer!*" and I told her yes living free and in the wild! And she asked where are the Kratt brothers? I thought it was the cutest remark! Because she was really expecting to see you! Call me a crazy mom but I really needed to share this with you! My little girl has learned alot from watching your episodes! And it would mean alot to us if maybe you would send autographed pictures of yourselves to her! They would be gratefully appreciated! And you would make one little girl very very happy! Thank you for your time! Sincerely! Kelly Garcia! Kelly Garcia (talk) 04:43, 27 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Funding section

edit

User @72.72.200.50: added a slightly misformatted and mislocated section listing a couple of companies that have sponsored Wild Kratts. I don't know of any other PBS Kids show that has such a section and don't think it should be there. So I reverted, they reverted and I neft an unanswered message on their talk page. Leaving this here if there's any discussion to be had after I revert again. Remember 72.72.200.50, that under WP:BRD, once new additions have been reverted it's on you to get consensus to add it.
