Proposed Additions and Changes to the Article
editSignificant alterations I plan to make: 1. Add background section. Move second paragraph from lead section into this new section, using it as a skeleton to expand upon Zolotow's observations about the interactions between her son and husband in which William's Doll is a response to. Add a few sentences that expand upon the work's place in Zolotow's body of work which recognizes and legitimatizes the emotional capacity of small children. 2. Add summary section. Move first paragraph from lead section into this new section, using it as a skeleton to create a more thorough plot summary. 3. Add analysis section. Explore the impact of the book's ideas in the classroom: to address gender micro-inequalities, to promote acceptance, and to assist in bilingual contexts. In addition, add an analysis of the book's themes: non-traditional gender stereotypes, elderly female protection, etc. 4. Add reception section: As one of the first children's books to address non-traditional gender stereotypes, there were both positive and negative reactions to the book following publication. 5. Edits to the Adaptations section: remove block quotation in favor of paraphrase. The public opinion included in this section about the book's homosexual undertones moved to reception section. Add sources for uncited claims in this section. 6. Edits to lead section: Condense first and second paragraphs, which will summarize the background and summary sections, respectively. Add summary of each section to be created, add summary of existing Adaptations section.
