Infobox

edit

Nikkimaria keeps removing information from the infobox which I recently added, with short, unhelpful edit summaries. In turn, these have been, in full, "ce" (which I reverted with an edit summary of "Unexplained removal of infobox content, with an edit summary of 'ce'"), "fmt, cleanup" (which I reverted with an edit summary of "Unexplained removal of infobox content, with an edit summary of 'fmt, cleanup') and most recently "that explains it". The material should be restored to the infobox; or a cogent, point-by-point case made here for its removal, in order that consensus may be reached. 1. Unlinking "United States" per WP:OVERLINK - city and state are already linked
  2. Removing empty parameters
  3. Removing alma mater, as the article does not currently support his graduation from that school
  4. Removing occupation as reductionist to the point of inaccuracy
Incidentally, as you added the infobox without any discussion whatsoever (and a short, unhelpful edit summary), once you were partially reverted you should have raised the issue here immediately rather than continuing to revert, per WP:BRD. I'm sure that's a convention you won't overlook next time. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 12:37, 5 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Countries are commonly linked in infoboxes. There is no requirement for graduation for an alma mater to be given. The occupations are given in the lede (and please do not remove them from it, to attempt a post-facto justification for your disputed edits). No discussion was required before I added the infobox, which I did with an edit summary of "iBox". WP:BRD does not say what you appear to think it does; indeed, you blatantly ignore its WP:BRD-NOT sub-section. There is no justification for your removal of any of the data from the infobox. "Alma mater" is most commonly understood to mean the school from which one has graduated. Countries are sometimes inappropriately linked in infoboxes, but that does not justify inappropriately linking them here. I've made no effort to remove anything from the lead other than what I've explained above. I don't see any justification to include invalid or incorrect data in the infobox.
