Blue Gates

The carving on The Blue Gates at Smethwick (right by the tollhouse) looks to be in Bloye's style. The pub is dated 1932. Does anyone know if it's his work? Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 19:53, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

There are only five Bloyes documented in Public Sculpture of Staffordshire and the Black Country by George T. Noszlopy. Smethwick is covered by this book, but no Bloyes there. Not conclusively discounting Bloye, but it possibly could have been one of his pupils, or just the contemporary style? Oosoom ^Talk 19:22, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Francis Williamson

Does anyone watching this article have a copy of Public Sculpture of Birmingham including Sutton Coldfield (ref #9?) If so, could they check the original sculptor of the Josiah Mason bust please. The article says Francis G Williamson, but I suspect it may be Francis J Willaimson, referenced [1]. The likelyhood of there being two sculptors working in the same era and location, differing only by their middle initial, seems remote. Thanks.  An optimist on the run! 15:23, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Noszlopy, Public Sculpture of Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull

Just a confirmation that Noszlopy, George T. (2003). Public Sculpture of Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull. Public Sculpture of Britain 6 (Liverpool University Press. ISBN 0-85323-847-2) reports only three Bloyes in the area covered by that book: St Alphage on the school in Solihull, nude on Leamington Art Gallery, and a lost work from another demolished school: St Nicholas Rescuing the Three Children.   Oosoom ^Talk  19:31, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
