Mayoral discrepancy

edit

His father was the first mayor, not him. If he was the first mayor, he would have become mayor at 9 years old, as it was 1852. I have a feeling this isn't the only issue confusing him and his father.--205.178.36.171 (talk) 23:16, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

The blurb was written confusingly, my apologies. Maybe a rewrite would be better.--205.178.36.171 (talk) 04:30, 7 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Citizenship?

edit

Did he ever actually get Canadian citizenship? I'm wondering why, in the 1894 Birthday Honours, he was only given an honorary knighthood. They only do that for people who aren't eligible via citizenship. In 1894, Canadian citizens were eligible as citizens of the British Empire, but Americans can only receive honorary ones. He was naturalized in 1914, acoording to the Dictionary of Canadian Biography. That would make his Hon KCMG substantive. Atchom 22:01, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
