editThis article was nominated for deletion: see Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/William E. Caswell. There was no consensus, therefore the article was kept. — Gwalla | Talk 05:50, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I object to the re-nomination of this article for deletion, and in accordance with Wikipedia policy I will remove the notice after explaining my objections. The summation of the discussion in 2005 as "no consensus" gives an inaccurate picture of what occurred then. The article was initially a stub with little info. Someone proposed it for deletion and two people agreed. Then I dug up background information that clearly showed notability -- in particular the Physics Today obituary linked from the article. I should mention that the mere existence of an obituary printed in Physics Today shows that the physics community consider him notable, quite aside from the content of said obituary. Once the article had been augmented with the new material, two later reviewers agreed that Caswell is notable. No later reviewer said he wasn't. In my opinion, this is consensus that the article should be kept. I hope it will not again be nominated for deletion. betsythedevine (talk) 08:07, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
