needs extensive work

edit

This is a stub and needs extensive work - especially regarding Prof. Easterly's take on international development as compared to Jeffrey Sachs.–—Preceding unsigned comment added by Adingare (talkcontribs) 15:21, June 26, 2006 (UTC)

How old is Willima Easterly?

edit

I know it sounds trivial (and silly), but i can't find his age. anyone? - Nudve 13:43, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

According to the author record in the catalogue of the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek, Easterly was born in 1957. --Minderbinder-de (talk) 18:58, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

To be more exact William Easterly was born on December 1, 1957.Tdspowers (talk) 08:03, 3 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

request for clarity

edit

'infamous colonial conceit of yore' (referring the Kipling's poem), why should it be considered a 'infamous conceit' when current attempts at aid have had far worse, perhaps even 'infamous' effects on populations. As for 'yore', yore indicates long past as opposed to 'recent history', please clean up.Twobells (talk) 12:00, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

removed material from Criticisms

edit

I removed the paragraph below on the basis that it is not central to the development issues debated by Easterly, Sachs, Sen, and others. It is no longer available on the Spin.com site but a transcript was found found on www.paulavion.com.

In February 2010, a parody called "A Highly Deplorable, Imaginary Conversation Between Famous Economists" appeared on the SPIN.com site, suggesting that the "debate" between Easterly, Sachs and Moyo was at least partly a function of careerism.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tmdnc (talkcontribs) 20:23, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Critic with Ha Joon Chang?

edit

Whoever wrote that - Easterly is a critic of Ha Joon Chang; I am not quite convinced with that. Any evidences on it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.209.145.241 (talk) 22:28, 12 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Productivity and factor world theory

edit

Is it me or is the "Productivity and factor world theory" section very unclear?--109.196.118.133 (talk) 02:11, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Violations of WP:NOR and WP:V

edit

Much of this article - I did some editing - still reads like it came directly from Easterly's resume or biographical web pages. That's a violation of WP:V; see also WP:NOT. Articles in Wikipedia are supposed to be created using secondary sources - that is, articles written about Easterly, not articles written by him. If, instead, what is put into this article is someone's interpretation of Easterly's works, that's original research, which is not allowed.

For example, I removed the entire "Productivity and factor world theory" section, which had one citation, to something written by Easterly. That's clearly a WP:NOR violation.

I personally don't have enough interest in the topic to spend a lot of time revising the article, particularly because that would have to start with removing perhaps half of the text. But I'm noting the problems here, as encouragement for someone else to do some cutting. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 04:57, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
