Looking at this article I find that it mistakenly says that William Fitts Ryan (Congressman from NY) coined the phrase "blaming the victim." The author of the article confuses him with another William Ryan, a Professor of Psychology at Boston College, who wrote a book entitled BLAMING THE VICTIM, which popularized the phrase. 75.34.177.9518:29, 15 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I suppose it's possible, but I think it's unlikely that Ryan was "the first member of the U.S. House to speak out against the War" [in Vietnam]. If so, it has somehow escaped my attention for all these years. In any event, it's an extraordinary claim, and requires documentation. Cgingold (talk) 07:11, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
