I rated the article and placed a banner shell. Good start to article.
Many references, but not mentioned in the current article, refer to the subject as Col. (Colonel) William H. Carpenter. He was old enough to have served in the War of 1848. Did he serve in the NY Militia? Or was he appointed a Colonel at the beginning of the Civil War? Curious. Jrcrin001 (talk) 03:18, 2 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
