editTwo separate sources list his place of birth as being Scarborough, North Yorkshire, in 1811? His father was managing the town's Theatre Royal at the time. The sources are: 'Scarborough Artists of the Nineteenth Century, A Biographical Dictionary'– 1997 (Anne and Paul Bayliss) and 'The Scarborough Book of Days' – 2013 (Robert Woodhouse).
