This article was extensively tuned up today by a single-purpose IP editor who has not said what he's up to, either by edit summaries or declaration of possible WP:COI or whatever. Dicklyon (talk) 02:25, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

FITS News

edit

Per TThe Washington Post, FITS news is a blog. One of the best in the state, apparently, but still, a blog. So does a local news agency. I understand, it looks like news, and the fact that WaPo likes it certainly gives it credibility, but it is still a blog, so it can't go in, per WP:RSSELF. I also have concerns about the legitimacy of the story itself, considering it's being shared on gossip sites and such sites as Celebseek and "Sound Health and Lasting wellness, obviously also self published sources. Nor is a podcast a reliable source. I see no reliable coverage of the story in the media, and lots of red flags regarding who IS covering it. FrederalBacon (talk) 23:58, 14 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Now we are gonna have the opposite problem: There is a source where he denies the rumors, that if valid, and sourced, and in the article. If anyone has a problem with relevancy, it should be discussed on talk. FrederalBacon (talk) 00:59, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
At the time, the story was covered by The Greenville News, (Part of the USA Today Network) the major, longest running, most well-respected newspaper in the Upstate and is one of the top newspapers in all of South Carolina, The Post and Currier Greenville (Post and Courier, an Evening Post Publishing Newspaper Group. All rights reserved.) WYFF the local NBC Affiliate located next to the Salvation Army in Downtown Greenville. As stated in the WYFF piece, Timmons "addressed public rumors" on WGTK 94.5 FM (formerly WMUU - an asset of Bob Jones University, now WKVG). A recording of the interview with Joey Hudson, formerly of Love and Hudson in the morning, a very long-running show and a well-respected radio personality in the Upstate, is in the previously linked WYFF Story. So yes, there was plenty of media easily accessible at that time if one had looked for it. MANY folks in the Upstate saw and still do see Timmon's infidelity as a problem, especially those with Bob Jones University affiliation. However, as BJU has strayed from its puritanical our-rules-before-Gods-love hardcore anchor and lost a bit of its vice-like grip on the politics of the area, as well as the ease of familiarity, Williams has been able to shut down the conversation. This incident was a major topic of conversation in the area and as ultra-uber-conservative Christian values have deteriorated, it has become much easier for that voting block to over-look their traditional and stated values and now use the excuses (which at one time they would have eschewed and decried) "Well, we aren't electing a pastor," and "God uses broken vessels to do his bidding." The incident should be a part of this Wiki as it was a major incident in the political life of both Timmons and his constituents and a turning-point in the values of the district. (This is a primary, eye-witness source speaking.) TFDrayton (talk) 22:34, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
You may have missed that the prior comments were made two years ago. The subject's marital problems and separation are included in the article and sourced to other than FITS.—ADavidB 03:39, 5 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
