- I'm unable to access the sources cited by Thrush, but I consider Burke equally authoritative otherwise, so am unable to settle the question as to whether the estate Apley was purchased or inherited.
- I think this page should be moved to Sir William ... but I do not know how to rename a page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.18.13.17 (talk) 03:05, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
Inaccuracy about son's baronetcy
editThis article erroneously states, based on the 'History of Parliament' article, that his son Sir Thomas was made a baronet in 1646 as reward for his father having made Bridgnorth Castle available to the king in 1642. However, the creation of the Whitmore of Apley baronetcy, first held by Sir Thomas, dates to 28 June 1641 before the Civil War started. I will amend the reference and make footnote to clarify.Cloptonson (talk) 13:58, 5 March 2022 (UTC)
