Feedback from New Page Review process
editI left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: Please add more references to indicate notability..

- @OttawaPoliticsGuy: Thank you for adding sources, though I would disagree with your edit summary that any city council member is ipso facto notable. Pyrrho the Skipper (talk) 18:22, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- I would agree that any city council is not automatically notable, but it has been long established as precedent on Wikipedia that any Ottawa city councillor is ipso facto notable (hence why every councillor from the last term has a page). This interpretation is concurred by other, much more senior editors, such as User:Earl Andrew OttawaPoliticsGuy (talk) 22:42, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- This has been long standing practice; the idea being that Ottawa is the capital of a G7 country, and whatnot. Plus, I've done lots of research on city councillors for Wikipedia, and there's no shortage of reliable sources on them, going back to the 19th Century. -- Earl Andrew - talk 13:36, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- WP:GNG, WP:BIO, and WP:POLITICIAN still apply to new articles created, though. If there is a longstanding consensus to include a particular type of subject, then it may be an indicator of notability, but it doesn't become a rule of law. Pyrrho the Skipper (talk) 16:00, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
