Template needs to be moved
editHi Anphibian, and thank you for another useful template. But I really think it needs to be put at the end of the article. To have it in the "See also" section interrupts the flow of the article. Johnfos 20:15, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

AMP-Ohio/Green Mountain Energy Wind Farm, photo request
editThis is a request for anyone who visits the AMP-Ohio/Green Mountain Energy Wind Farm in Wood County. Commons has a nice photograph of one of the Vestas V80-1.8MW wind turbines in the wind farm:
It would be nice to obtain at least one closeup photograph of the solar-powered kiosk on the site that gives data to visitors about the project, the current wind speed, and real time power generation, mentioned in this reference:
- "Ohio gov blows hard with wind-powered energy". Environment Ohio. 2008-01-12. Retrieved 2008-12-15.
For comparison, Lamma Winds in Hong Kong has a similar display, and we have a photo of it:
Commons has lots of photos of wind turbines, but relatively few showing details of visitor exhibits for wind turbines on public display. Thanks. --Teratornis (talk) 23:24, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- I repeated the question on Talk:Bowling Green, Ohio#AMP-Ohio/Green Mountain Energy Wind Farm, photo request, and Kralizec! agreed to photograph the kiosk. --Teratornis (talk) 21:55, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
- I found some photos of the wind farm on a photo sharing site whose license terms are unclear:

- The wind farm is visible on Google Maps; the wind turbines are near what looks like the Wood County landfill, just west of Bowling Green:

NASA Glenn
editNote that NASA Glenn is not contributing to wind power in Ohio at all. I've looked at their research programs. They are not doing anything related to wind power. TeH nOmInAtOr (talk) 18:29, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- That's why NASA Glenn appears in the History section. --Teratornis (talk) 18:47, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Personnel from NASA Glenn have been recently active in feasibility studies for an offshore wind farm in Lake Erie. See http://www.greenenergyohio.org/page.cfm?pageID=1596. --Teratornis (talk) 18:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Note that the claim:
- "They are not doing anything related to wind power."
- is much stronger than the claim:
- "I found nothing to indicate they are doing anything related to wind power."
- Unless you are sure your search was exhaustive, you risk making a hasty generalization if you assume that your failure to find something means it is not there. --Teratornis (talk) 18:55, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Note that the claim:
- Personnel from NASA Glenn have been recently active in feasibility studies for an offshore wind farm in Lake Erie. See http://www.greenenergyohio.org/page.cfm?pageID=1596. --Teratornis (talk) 18:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Another highly visible wind turbine
editAn auto parts recycling company in Cleveland installed a remanufactured Vestas V20-120 kW wind turbine on its property:

This is a large enough installation to mention in the Wind power in Ohio article. I'll work it in later unless someone beats me to it. --Teratornis (talk) 23:40, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- And another wind turbine, at Case Western Reserve University:

It is a collaborative effort of authors in the wind energy industry, this volume is a compilation of articles on the topic of wind energy in the State of Ohio. It examines the major wind energy events in Ohio since 1888 and provides insight into Ohio's key past, present, and future processes involved in the wind industry. Contributing authors report for their experiences Ohio's long history, diverse and often highly contentious, political struggles during its developing wind energy industry with a historical perspective. This book is available on Amazon® and through Lake Publishing, Inc. (www.lakepublishing.org).

One Energy Ohio Wind for Industry projects
editHi all! I'm thinking this page should contain the various utility-scale, distributed-generation wind projects installed by Findlay Ohio's One Energy. A few manufacturing facilities in Ohio (including Whirlpool, Ball Corporation, and Valfilm) have 1-3 wind turbines on-site to reduce their consumption from the grid. I'm working on creating a Company page for One Energy, as I'm a writer on staff. Maybe I'll work on adding the language to this page once the company page is live, but I just thought I'd throw the suggestion out there to see if anyone has any thoughts. Thanks!
