Talk:Windowpane flounder

Sinistral (eyes on left)? Therefore not a true flounder?

edit
"Except for the rare abnormal specimen, two of the four flatfish families (tongue soles and turbots) are always sinistral (eyes on the left side); the other two (both flounders) are dextral (eyes on the right side)." - http://www.nefsc.noaa.gov/faq/fishfaq2a.html#q6

And then it has a pic of "Windowpane Flounder (sinistral)"... which implies it's not in a flounder family. Following the Scophthalmidae link, I see this is the turbot family.

This species also isn't mentioned at Flounder (not that that's conclusive), nor mentioned on the {{flatfish}} navigational box.

Could this be clarified? Is it meaningful to ask if it's a true flounder? --Chriswaterguy talk 03:56, 11 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
