Talk:Windsor Station (Montreal)

Funny little fact:

"It has been redeveloped into an office and hotel complex and is famous for hosting an annual beer festival." Well, incidentally, the OIQ ("Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec" - literally "Order of Engineers of Quebec") is located in the same building. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SwordAngel (talkcontribs) 17:48, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Street address

edit

The postal address for the offices at Windsor Station is 1100 de La Gauchetière Street West. However, the list of heritage railway stations from the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada gives the address as 1160 de La Gauchetière Street West. Perhaps that was the address of the main passenger entrance. -- Eastmain 06:09, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, there are several entrances. 1100 is the entrance where security is located and thus is the only night entrance. I assume it gives access to the higher office floors. 1160 is most likely the main entrance that gives access to the Salle des pas perdus. There is another entrance to towards the end of the building, which only leads directly into the St-Hubert restaurant. Furthermore, there is an entrance on the corner of Peel and St-Antoine, although I'm not sure about the address. Jurjenb (talk) 22:35, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

In what to my mind has to one of the stupidest bits of urban planning I've seen, the new hockey arena was built just west of Windsor cutting the station off from the tracks which are heavily used by commuter trains. As a result, commuters now have to hike around the arena to reconnect to the rest of the urban transit system. Unbelievable that hockey took precedence over an efficient transit system. Actually, the Lucien-L'Allier metro station is directly below the modern terminal platforms, so its actually better connected than it was before. And this is Montreal, so hockey takes precedence over just about everything (only slightly kidding). But most importantly, WP:NOTAFORUM.oknazevad (talk) 03:17, 30 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
