Wine Clip
editI removed the wine clip. This seems to be some pseudo-scientific gadget of whose efficacy there is no evidence. They use "magnetic fields" to "realign" tannins---utter nonsense, especially seeing how no closed-shell organic molecule has a magnetic dipole moment. Kind of reminds of Penta water. Wikipedia is not here to advertise snake oils. --151.203.237.183 (talk) 04:33, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- While I'm not a big fan of the device, it is nonetheless sourced with reliable sources and the opinion that it is "snake oil" doesn't have a bearing on whether or not it should be in the Encyclopedia. We do, after all, have entries on snake oil and Flat Earth. You are free to add statements attached to reliable sources that question the efficiency of the gadget. - The sources that are cited merely confirm that this object exists, and do not make a statement about its scientific claims. And while it is true that there are articles about many quackeries, the ones that merit inclusion are the ones that are in some way significant (e.g., many people actually believe in homeopathy). I have yet to find one independent source (or, better yet, a double-blind study) that agrees that this wine clip works. I mean, if this is included, then there should be an encyclopedia article about every pyramid scheme, magnetic pillow, or other scheme of deceiving consumers. --151.203.237.183 (talk) 07:29, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Winemaking accessories?
editOf the article's current contents, the "wine thief" doesn't fit in since it is a winemaking accessory rather than a wine accessory under the (quite reasonable) definition stated in the intro of the article. However, since neither this article nor winemaking equipment exists, and a separate "wine thief" article doesn't seem to be warranted, I'm not doing anything about this at the moment. But if you find a more appropriate and notable home for the poor thief, please go ahead. Tomas e (talk) 10:00, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

editThere was a simple problem with the wording of this section. I changed it to what I assumed was meant to be said but if I am wrong feel free to revert it. --71.84.126.174 (talk) 10:14, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
