Jerry Killingsworth

edit

I can find no references that would make Jerry Killingsworth a person of interest outside of Winnsboro. Unless someone comes up with some evidence otherwise, I'll delete the entry. Wkharrisjr (talk) 20:05, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Status of Gene King, country music singer and band leader?

edit

Gene King is associated with Winnsboro and its Princess Theatre, and it's fine IMHO to have as much mention here as I have already added (within a sectio on Princess Theatre) currently:

The Princess Theatre in Winnsboro was established in 1907, and closed in 1988. It was later refurbished. It reopened as a live performance venue in 1994 and remains open in 2023.[1] For many years, including in 2008 and still in 2019, its programming included the Franklin Opry "on the third Saturday of every month", with country singer Gene King,[2][3] In 2022, King was recognized on the Northeast Louisiana Music Trail[4] by a marker in Wisner, Louisiana,[5] and he was honored in a tribute concert at the Princess.[6]

He has obviously been long-contributing and well-respected in the community. Possibly there could/should be a separate standalone article about him. I found mention of his being arguably deserving of listing in a hall of fame of Louisiana musicians. He has association with another town where he lived, and he ran a Grand Ole Opry program in a different (Delta?) parish/county too. It seems possible that he is has "retired" or otherwise is no longer performing, due to fact of tribute concert and notes at Facebook group that the group "still" continues for his fans. But I didn't find an obituary or anything stating what has happened (maybe because I don't have access to local newspapers). Can anyone provide an update, with sourcing adequate to mention in this and/or a separate article? --Doncram (talk, contribs) 23:56, 6 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
