Allusion in title
editWhat is the basis for assuming that the title is a reference to Emily Dickinson? I would think it could equally easily be an allusion to Aristotle's description of man as a "featherless biped". - Jmabel | Talk 02:38, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

"Hope is the thing with feathers. - Emily Dickinson" is printed on the second page, before the chapter listing. Additionally, the first short story features the line "How wrong Emily Dickinson was!
