made Umlaut 'ö' consistent throughout page. 'ö' and 'oe' are legal German equivalents ('oe' being the sort key). Maybe someone French can review this, as WD certainly was French more than German. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 113.88.66.21 (talk) 00:10, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

proposed move

edit

I suggest we retitle the page "Wolfgang Döblin", i.e. with an ö instead of oe. This would be consistent with the German and French wikipedia pages, and seems to be standard. Any objections? Sindinero (talk) 07:55, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Doeblin himself explicitly chose to spell his name with oe instead of ö, see for example http://www.proba.jussieu.fr/~mazliak/DoeblinHostinsky.pdf. Also, all of his articles use oe; I therefore propose to revert to that spelling. Hairer (talk) 13:40, 14 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

If Markov lived from June 14, 1856 – July 20, 1922, how can Doeblin been 'ahead of his time'? Needs clarification
