Fatal Accident

According to this video, only 12 spectators were killed [1] ...but in the article it says that 14 were killed, anybody know for sure? --Skully Collins _{Review Me! Please?} 10:37, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

I rewrote to this:

"at the Parabolica. The Dino 156 climbed the banking, killing fourteen spectators before overturning, fatally throwing von Trips from the car."

on that basis. The Ferrari 156 page confirms 14. Trekphiler 17:31, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Quote from the Motorsport Memorial website: The toll of the accident is the worst of the history of the Formula 1 Championship: besides Wolfgang von Trips, eleven spectators were instantly killed (the Italian Augusto Camillo Valleise, Franca Duguet, Luigi Motta, Luigi Fassi, Laura Zorzi, Albino Albertini, Paolo Perazzone, Mario Brambilla, Giuseppina Lenti and Claudia Polognoli and the Swiss Franz Waldvogel), and many were seriously injured. The following day three of the wounded spectators - Luigi Freschi, Roberto Brambilla and Rinaldo Girod - succumbed in the Monza hospital. Another spectator, Renato Janin, passed away in the same clinic on 15 September.

Cutting corners

I deleted this:

"for the until then unpopular car racing."

as unsubstantiated, & contradictory to pre-WW2. I deleted this:

"Consequently, his team-mate Phil Hill won the title."

as irrelevant to von Trips. I deleted this:

"Instead, he helped lay the foundation for another German to become the greatest (and richest) sportsman of all times"

as debatable & extremely POV. Tho I'd agree Michael is the one of the best F1 drivers ever, on par with Senna, I never saw Fangio or Clark. Trekphiler 17:13, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Whilst Small also has him as "Trips, Wolfgang von", and Griffiths as "von Trips, Wolfgang", neither give any other names. An anon editor left the following comment in the article after the LA Times quote from Jim Clark: " This is wrong. The real stoy can be read in Clark's Autobiography, pages 122 & 123". Unencyclopaedic paragraph

That paragraph about his “fate” and being “jinxed” is very unencyclopaedic in tone. The mention of his previous accidents and injuries at Monza is valid information, but it should be re-written in a factual and encyclopaedic manner.--Jcmo (talk) 15:31, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Name

He is commonly known as Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips and Graf Berghe von Trips is his lastname. The article should therefore be moved. Flugscham (talk) 20:14, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

von Trips or Von Trips

Which is it. Even the article contradicts itself between the two. Clearly it is Wolfgang von Trips and not Wolfgang Von Trips but if we don't include his first name are we supposed to captilise the von or not?
