Forest Park
edit-Many are claiming that Forest Park is partially part of Woodhaven, and other's say that it is just a remote park.

Woodhaven boundaries
editThe map link (http://www.queensbp.org/content_web/map_boundaries.htm ) is the best indication of the boundaries. YES, it USED to be MUCH larger, but it is not now. The article could mention that - but it cannot claim it presently is larger than it is YES, the offices of Forest Park are served by the Woodhaven Post Office. The boundaries of Queens neighborhoods are not determined by post office boundaries. Park could put Queens, NY -- or Jamaica, NY -- or St. Albans, NY & they would still get the mail. Aqueduct Racetrack uses Jamaica PO address - but it is definitely not in the Jamaica nieghborhood --JimWae (talk) 03:07, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
IF our article is to be believed, Forest Park is north of Woodhaven - hence it is not IN Woodhaven--JimWae (talk) 06:37, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
YES "Woodhaven's major recreational park is Forest Park." BUT other neighborhoods claim it also--JimWae (talk) 03:07, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
I am sure JFK & LGA airports &[these have own multiple ZIP codes] Alley Park have postal address ZIP codes too - that does not make them part of a neighborhood that also has that ZIP code. (Btw, on the neighborhood map published by the Queens Borough President, Kissena Park & Cunningham Park are not even named - but they are separated from the neighborhoods (likely because they too are parks shared by several neighborhoods).
ZIP codes are made for the convenience of the post office, not to create neighborhood boundaries. Likely there are neighborhoods with more than one ZIP code - AND neighborhoods that share ZIP codes. Putting the Forest Park elevation as an elevation for Woodhaven is misleading. --JimWae (talk) 02:08, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Here's an example: the boundaries of ZIP code 11412 and the boundaries of St. Albans do not have the same shape at all. You can see ZIP boundaries on GoogleEarth - they are outlined in yellow --JimWae (talk) 02:18, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

- "Forest Park is the third largest park in Queens. It is surrounded by five ethnically diverse neighborhoods, Richmond Hill, Kew Gardens, Forest Hills, Woodhaven, and Glendale.
- Serving the Kew Gardens, Forest Hills, Richmond Hill, Woodhaven, and Glendale communities, the Forest Park of today offers something for everyone,

Is Forest Park your local park? If so, which neighborhood do you call home?
- Richmond Hill
- Kew Gardens
- Forest Hills
- Glendale
- Woodhaven
I am changing the article data re elevation --JimWae (talk) 02:36, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
go to 40degrees 41' 02.83 N, 75degrees 51' 53.38 W - someone who did not (& might still not) know Woodhaven borders Brklyn & thought it was 5 minutes from Nassau should not presume to give lectures on its borders nor be reverting w/o discussion FIRST - this is disrespectful --JimWae (talk) 04:55, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Suggested Changes
editNew to Wikipedia - forgive my mistakes, I'll learn and adapt. I'm the new President of the Woodhaven Residents' Block Association.
There is a link to a "community forum" related to Woodhaven -- it leads to a page who's purpose is hard to figure out. But it has nothing to do with our neighborhood. Can it be deleted?
Also -- with regards to the bar Neir's -- it is the oldest bar in Queens with a rich and extensive history and it has just been restored. I'd like to gather information and post it here and suggest a separate page -- is that ok?

– Clear primary topic by pageviews. The Michigan city does not get nearly as many and its population is significantly smaller. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 06:13, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- WikiNav doesn't even render, as last month there were only 14 filtered clickstreams. Mass views says it's 79 vs. 32, which is 2.5 : 1, which sounds good, but still sort of doesn't line up with the idea that we're inconveniencing an appreciable volume of readers by making them choose from a trivial list. Without any analysis of long-term significance, I don't think this makes sense. (Oppose) --Joy (talk) 11:29, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
