Type speciem
editIn do not understand how there can be a type speciem for a genus. Actually it makes only sense for a species or a subspecies. --Altaileopard 23:03, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- You are confusing a type specimen with a type species. If the genus were to be split into two genera, which ever of the two genera contained the current type species would retain the name, and the other would be given a new name, as well as a new type species. - UtherSRG (talk) 02:24, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- Ups, sorry, I meant type specimen.--Altaileopard 19:11, 19 July 2007 (UTC).
