editshouldn't IRPC be expanded in the title?--ZayZayEM 02:08, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Naming conventions (acronyms) states: "Convention: Avoid the use of acronyms in page naming unless the term you are naming is almost exclusively known only by its acronyms and is widely known and used in that form (NASA, SETI, and radar are good examples)." So, it probably should be changed to the expanded name, I suppose. I made it an acronym originally because "Immigration Reception and Processing Centre" is such a long winded name, and these places are generally known as plain old "detention centres" rather than their official title. - Borofkin 03:19, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Um, any tips on capitalisation? Should it be "Woomera Immigration Reception and Processing Centre"? I need to get it right before I create the other detention centres so I don't have to redo them... - Borofkin 04:41, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Background section
editIf it belongs anywhere, the stuff about Pauline Hanson would belong in a more general section (such as mandatory detention in Australia), not this article. Andjam 08:28, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- Probably correct. I think I created that section when I was thinking about making this article Featured. I reckon it could be a candidate for the Main page one day, if someone wanted to spend the time on it. - Borofkin 06:18, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- I've excised two paragraphs, and changed a heading. I'm not sure if it'd be able to be a featured article, but it could become a WP:GA (good article), if enough work was done. Andjam 13:00, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
